Prepare the surface on which the flooring is to be installed.
The surface should have a moisture barrier, i.e. Pacific Imports'
2-in-1 Moisture Barrier/Foam Underlayment, ensuring that no moisture
will come in contact with the flooring. Never apply bamboo directly
in contact with the concrete surface. Even with a moisture barrier,
concrete flooring must be tested for moisture using the CALCIUM
CHLORIDE TEST METHOD. Flooring should not be installed if vapor
pressure exceeds 3 pounds per 1000 square feet in 24 hours.
Minium requirements: install smooth, level, 3/4” plywood
(i.e. Okume plywood).
Ensure
that the top surface of the plywood is clean, dry and free of
debris Apply subfloor glue every 12” to help reduce floor
squeaks.
Apply
the bamboo by using stainless steel nails with a strip nailer.
Nail inside the tongue at a 45 degree angle every 6 inches.
Leave
a 3/8” gap between the bamboo flooring and any wall. This
space will be covered by molding.
Never
install bamboo flooring below grade or in any area where contact
with water or moisture is possible.
Vacuum
or sweep to remove dirt and grit prior to cleaning your floors.
When a spill occurs, soak up any liquid quickly. Do not allow
liquid to puddle on floors. Do not use oil soap, floor wax, or
other household cleaners on bamboo floors. Use cleaners specifically
designed for use on wood floors.
Limited
warranty is void if installation instructions are not followed
specifically.
